Health Research

We currently sit on the advisory board with The University of California Office of the President, the California Department of Public Health, and the Cancer Prevention Institute of California to further research on Black women workers and our exposure to toxins. In 2015, BWW released a report highlighting chemicals and toxins in our beauty and personal items that create health risks including cancers. Our community research has surveyed Black women in the beauty industry, their exposure to chemicals and their health outcomes. For more information, visit our Sisters in Control Environmental Justice page.

Other Projects

BWW also facilitates workshops on beast health education (all ages) and clinical preventive services including promoting breast cancer screenings for healthy aging (seniors 50+). We can design our Kitchen Divas healthy cooking workshops on recipes that promote breast health and share awareness on foods that can put us at risks for cancers.  We also work with Celebrate Life Ministries to connect breast cancer warriors to African American women support groups and other community resources.

September Dates:

9/12, 9/19 and 9/26 at 10am

McCarty Memorial Christian Church - 4103 West Adams Blvd
