2/17 Pili Film Screening Fundraiser
February 17 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
About the Event:
Join Black Women For Wellness at the 26th annual Pan African Film Festival for a special screening of PILI. Buy tickets at: https://bww-pili-screening.eventbrite.com
“This film follows the story of Pili, a woman living in rural Tanzania who works in the fields for less than $2 a day to feed her two children while struggling to keep her HIV positive status secret. When she is offered the chance to rent a sought-after market-stall, Pili is desperate to have it. But with only two days to get the deposit together, Pili is forced to make increasingly difficult decisions with ever deepening consequences.
PILI is a ground-breaking collaboration between the filmmakers and the women of Miono, Tanzania whose real stories the film is based upon and who make up the ensemble cast of non-actors, 65% of whom are HIV positive.”
After the film, stick around for a Q&A with the film’s director and producers and Black Women for Wellness!
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Black Women For Wellness in our efforts to heal, educate and empower Black women and girls. $20. Buy tickets here: https://bww-pili-screening.eventbrite.com
