Governor Brown’s proposal to eliminate the California Commission on the Status of Women is both unbelievable and unacceptable. California women did not put him into office to eliminate one of our primary channels for a voice on public policy. Dear Commission Supporters:
In recent years, the Legislative Analyst’s Office has recommended elimination of the Commission. This year is different! Governor Brown has included this recommendation in his most recent budget revision. Once again, we must put out a call for help for the Commission. We need your help to survive this latest threat!
The fate of the Commission’s budget will be addressed in the Assembly and Senate Budget Subcommittees on State Administration the week of May 23rd. Each of you can help – please tell everyone you know to call or send letters to the Committees urging them to continue funding for the Commission on the Status of Women. Women and girls deserve a voice in California’s government!
